A printed circuit board mechanically supports and electrically connects electronic components or electrical components using conductive tracks, pads and other features etched from one or more sheet layers of copper laminated onto and/or between sheet layers of a non-conductive substrate.
Printed circuit board (PCB) design brings your electronic circuits to life in the physical form. Using layout software, the PCB design process combines component placement and routing to define electrical connectivity on a manufactured circuit board.
Manufacturing starts from the fabrication data generated by computer aided design, and component information. The fabrication data is read into the CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) software. CAM performs the following functions:
1. Input of the fabrication data.
2. Verification of the data.
3. Compensation for deviations in the manufacturing processes (e.g. scaling to compensate for distortions during lamination).
5. Output of the digital tools (copper patterns, drill files, inspection, and others).
